Question: Are hearing aids beneficial to someone who has suffered nerve damage?

I've got a moderate high frequency hearing loss in both ears and I was told by my audiologist that it's what is commonly known as nerve deafness. I wear 2 hearing aids and they help, but they don't give me normal hearing. I also lip read a little. I guess that the only way for anyone to properly determine whether hearing aids would help is to see an audiologist, have hearing tests and try hearing aids if the audiologist suggests that they might help.
