Well some people in my class go like can you not hear anything when you don't have your hearing aids in, well I can if it is really loud yeah, people seem to think people who wear hearing aids are dea when they are actually hearing impaired. They don't work for completely deaf people because all a hearing aid does is make normal sounds louder. People who have bad hearing can hear different frequencies like the person above my answer he can't hear peoples voices maybe because of the frequencies of the voices. I can't hear high pitched things very good and people who have really deep voices either.

A lot depends on the type and degree of hearing loss. I have a moderate high frequency hearing loss and wear hearing aids in both ears. I can hear quite well with my aids in a lot of situations but there are some situations where I still find it difficult to understand what people say. Ian

Not for all people. It depends on the person's WRS or word recognition score. This is the word list the audiologist gives at a "comfortable volume ". This tells the audiologist how clear the words are when the volume is louder (like a hearing aid would do). If the word recognition score is 0% then hearing aids will probably not allow the person to be able to hear speech with their hearing aids. The longer the person goes without hearing aids, the lower that score gets.
