I have an elderly patient that is having trouble hearing. He has expressed to me that he can not afford hearing aids with his financial budget. He is asking me if I can help him find free hearing aids. I know that there are charities, and community services out there, but I am having trouble locating them. I have even emailed the city, with no response. Can you help?
How long is too long to wait for hearing aids to arrive. Grandma has waited 4 months?
In february I took my 78 yr old grandmother to the ENT because she was having difficulty hearing. After exam and cleaning her ears it out was deemed that she needs hearing aides. FIne. Her insurance was poor. It covered 250.00 for both hearing aids. which left and outstanding amount of $1037.00. Grandma was really reluctant to spend that kid of money because she didn't have it. these were the cheapest so we opted for 1 hearing aid. and she pay 400.00 out of pocket. We started the process, Every other week we were canceled appt because the authorization had not come through yet. I started getting upset because she was is becoming more and more depressed. I started calling the hearing aid company EPIC they told me they didn't know what was taking so long...with the reply I will call you back. this was early feb. i am still waiting So the audiologist started feeling bad for grandma and in april signed grandma up for CHAP community hearing aid Program . If qualified she can receive 2 hearing aids for 150.00. We went that route, sent a cashiers check with application as directed.The beginning of May we received a letter of acceptance. And it stated that her check has been cashed and thank you for the NON REFUNDABLE donation. Make apt with ENT to have moldings done. We were a step ahead already so the ENT sent everything away. We were told the end of may everything was a go. then was told wow we don't have any openings until june 21. SERIOUSLY your going to make her wait that long? They found an opening at their other clinic on June 10 yesterday at 11 00 am. This clinic is 20 miles away, but if it meant for her to get her hearing aids. i was taking her. At 10 15 yester I received a call stating that the appt was canceled again because THEY STILL WERENT IN this is old. I want retribution or something for her. She cant get her money back because they said it was a charitable donation. What do we do?
Why do people with conduction deafness wear hearing aids that sit against the bone behind their ear?

When my sister was around 7 or 8 years old she had an ear operation I believe it was Myringotomy not really sure though to place a tube in her ear. After that I guess it did not work before four years later she required an ear operation again to fix the lingering issue with her ear. Even after that now 2 years later she has been told that her hearing is kind of bad. They gave her the option of hearing aids or one more operation, my parents and sister decided they want to do an operation on one of the ears the one that is a bit worse and a use a hearing aid on the other one. Thing is when she had the operation two years ago she had the flu and was thinking that had something to do with it? The doctors say that something I forget what just keeps expanding which is what makes it so difficult to find out why its happening. I am just worried about what other kids might say behind her back at school and what not, because lets face it kids can be cruel. I don't want her to go through that kind of hardships. Is there reason for hope that this time if she goes in without a flue, that the operation will be a success and her ear can back to a normal level, and hearing aids not be a requirement? I just want to get some opinions on this.It is not the cochlear implant. Apparently the tubes they keep putting in do not seem to work. Something in hear ear keeps expanding, and they do not know why. They say this is what causes the hearing loss.

obviously nowadays young people listen to loud music for long periods of time me included and we are damaging our hearing. when the loud noise damages or kills some of the cells in the ears how do hearing aids work to improve hearing?are scientists developing anything better? in a few years there are going to be so many more people needing hearing aids so how are they doing with new technology science on that, do we know?thanksxx

Well I am partially deaf in both ears, and i have 2 hearing aids, one for each ear. I used to keep them in a case so they wouldn't fall out of my pocket or anything but then one day i fell and smashed it it saved me from scraping up my knee and so when i got home that day i asked my dad for a new one, but it cost 10$.... he complained that it cost to much since hes out of the job and going back to college and were living on one income. So today i put them in my pocket so that i could listen to music. One fell out at some point this morning and its gone. Now instead of being out 10$ for a stupid case, im out over 700$ for a frigging hearing aid. So NOW i gotta get a job and buy a new one myself. I was looking at this thing called Apli Ear, but i don't know if it would work well or not because its only $58.65 for 2. But it claims that they can sell it cheaper because they make it themselves, and to me it looks promising but I'm an amateur. so what do you guys think?website is here ampliear.com ampliear.html
My hearing aid make buzzing noises?
I took an deceased man's hearing aids that are Phonaks molded in the ear kind brand new. why do they buzz when they are in my ear? can I get them fixed or is that the way they are?
